There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel complex that contains many conveniences on top of the casino, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
